Yet another nap without nursing. (: And he went to sleep so quickly. I just let him lie next to me and talk quietly for a while to wind down, then cuddle up with him until he’s asleep. Which is what we’ve been doing all month, but now the brief nursing session has been removed.

Don’t feel bad. I only have days like this once a week. And that’s a vast improvement from when I was pregnant/had a newborn.

Rainbow chard and bacon crustless quiche

2-3 strips bacon, diced
2 cups rainbow swiss chard, rough chopped
Salt
Smoked paprika
6 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, grated
1/3 cup fresh parmesan cheese, grated

In a large skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Pour into a pie pan along with half of the bacon grease, spread around the pie pan to grease it.
Toss chopped swiss chard into the skillet and sauté in the remaining bacon grease. Add salt and smoked paprika to taste. Add swiss chard to bacon in pie pan.
In a bowl, combine eggs and milk and whisk together. Pour into pie pan. Add grated mozzarella and stir all ingredients until combined. Top with grated parmesan.
Bake at 350° for 40 minutes or until center is firm.

It’s 11:12 and I’ve had a very productive morning.

I showered
Washed all the dishes
Made a quiche
Took the trash out
Cleaned the kitchen floors
And started laundry

I definitely have mixed emotions, but he’s done so well. He still asks to nurse, but he isn’t upset at all when I tell him no more nursing. It was the right time for both of us.

fun fact: if a persons body odor smells good to you that means they have an immune system basically opposite of yours! this happens so the chances of finding a mate with the opposite immune system is greater and the chances that any offspring you produce together will have a stronger immune system is greater.

this is fascinating

By the way, as of yesterday, Todd is completely weaned.
I told him nursing is boo boo and he kissed my chest, patted me and said “oh, mommy boo boo,” and took a nap without nursing.
That’s it, we’re done now.
I’m so, so glad that I did it gradually instead of abruptly. I was really ready to be done six months ago, but it was obvious that Todd wasn’t. It was worth it to push through and wean him gently.
